i will be honest and say that i am a little sad that our 6 year family tradition of going to newport beach for a week will be missed. instead the parents decided to go back to our old traditional destination Big Bear Lake. i know the 35 of us will have just as much fun, but there's something to be said about only having to pack a small bag with swimwear, flip-flops, and tanks, laying on the beach enjoying a good read, and riding bikes forever with the wind against your sun kissed face!

here's to you, Newport Beach!

this place is pretty much exactly what i want my future company to look like! i have been conjuring up all my ideas of how i will put together my future shop for kids, finishing the details in my head, and getting ready to put it all down on paper! i ran into this site today and just about fell off my chair! Camilla & Camilla from LuckyBoySunday have created a whimsical, fairytale, dreamlike, contemporary like state in their products. The feel for the collection is so playful but sophisticated. I wish i never saw this because now some will think i am a "copier" but i will say that my future line will be a tad different!

Valentine's Day Sign Card
Create this card by making signs out of construction paper, doilies, and adhesive letters from an office-supply store. Photograph your child holding the signs, then tape the pictures to construction paper and fold the card accordion-style.

Hand-Shaped Valentines
Send a touching message with valentines traced from little hands.

Patterned Paper Wrap
Store- bought treats are more special when covered in pretty patterned paper. Pen a note on the underside or on a tag attached with waxed twine. Tuck gum into a card stock "matchbook" stamped with a message; sticks of gum sold in large packs often have plain white wrappers that are perfect for decorating with stickers. A lollipop adorned with a sticker and taped to a card stock heart will also be welcome, as would button candy slipped into a small paper bag embellished with die-cut scrap art (available at crafts stores).

With just a little TLC, colorful hearts flourish as the petals of a new flower variety -- one with a lollipop center and stem.

Friends will be aflutter over envelopes that turn into valentines. Cut a fat heart from paper that has a white side and a patterned side -- wrapping paper works well.

Bonbon-Filled Hearts
Surprise a loved one by hanging a heart-shaped container filled with candy on his doorknob or near his computer.

(simultaneous with pumpkins)
Melt the wax in a slow cooker on "keep warm" (under 120° F); remove from heat. Have each kid coat one hand in Vaseline and dip it in ice water, then wax. Repeat several times. Depending on the group's age (and your patience), either have the kids assemble entire pizzas using prepared dough and sauce, or premake them and just have the kids cut spooky mozzarella shapes to place on top. Have wipes available so kids can clean their hands before handling the cheese.

5:30 P.M.Make Popcorn Balls
(simultaneous with pizza prep)
Halloween just wouldn't be Halloween without heaps of sweets. The Popcorn Factory's popcorn-ball decorating kit (for 12 kids) comes with a colorful smattering of candy pieces and a tube of icing to keep them stuck to the ball.

6:00 P.M.Wrap and Race
Have the kids split into two teams, then designate half of each team "wrappers" and half "mummies." The first wrapper runs across the field and wraps a mummy. Then the mummy waddles across to tag the next wrapper. The first team to finish wins. For added strength, use two-ply toilet paper or crepe paper ($4 for 500 feet, Oriental Trading).

6:15 P.M.Eat Dinner
Let the kids take a breather (and refuel) by sitting down to eat their pizza. Enhance the mood by placing the Parmesan and red-pepper flakes in mini plastic kettles and ladling punch from a cauldron. To avoid confusion, bake the pizza on parchment paper labeled with the kids' names.

6:30 P.M.Have Dessert
It's healthier than cake, but equally exciting—finish with pumpkin bread baked in a special Bundt pan. Spread a layer of cream-cheese frosting in the middle, and use black licorice to create a stem and vines. Dress up slices of the cake with a topping of dried fruit, nuts, and plastic spiders.

6:45 P.M.Search for Bones
Hunt for glow-in-the-dark bones among jack-o'-lanterns and tombstones. Up the creep factor by playing haunting tunes. If you have extra time, have the kids assemble their finds into a body.

this one seems pretty fun and easy! invite as little or as many as you can hold in your kitchen. Plan on baking cupcakes, a cake, or even cookies that the kids can decorate! The baking and decorating will be the main event, no need for games or entertaiment because this will take a few hours! You could even pre-make little aprons for each kid, use a fabric marker and write their name on each one! After the baking, open some presents and sing Happy Birthday! Wha La, a baking party!!!!

Peter Pan! I love that this was designed with a classic disney movie theme? what ever happened to kids loving the classics? well, im not sure why, but about 12 years ago I started preparing myself by purchasing all the disney movies AND all the Dr. Suess books so i would be ready for when i had little ones. now im sure i could sell all my VHS's for a good amount of money! too bad they don't even make VHS players anymore. i was checking out teen vogue and who were they featuring? Emma Watson, aka Hermione Granger from the Harry Potter sequel. I think it's funny because a few nights ago I wrapped up the final installment of the Twighlight books, Breaking Dawn, and started on the 6th book of the Harry Potter sequel, Half Blood Prince! Preparing myself for the upcoming movie, I need to finish it in a few weeks.

Well I have to admit that I am a huge fan. I don't think anyone could've played Hermione quit as well as her. Well maybe Kristen Stewart but we'll never know. So Emma is gorgeous in this photo shoot and the article that comes with it is inspiring because of her simple responses to their questions like this:

"It's very hard to describe your own style," she admits. "And I'm young, so I'm still experimenting. But I think it's quite British and very much about individuality." Emma says she prefers to pull her own party dresses, but even when she's short on time and must work with a stylist, she's careful to make sure that the resulting outfits don't look overdone. so i've been wanting to surprise Mr. G with a weekend away, but he just found out he has to go back to work next week, so our plans will be on hold for awhile. but while checking out cool unique places, I discovered this chain of hotels on three potato four's blog called the ACE Hotel! these rooms look like someone lives there, very homey feeling, with a modern theme!

tell me this isnt the most discouraging thing I have ever seen. I was on Etsy today looking around to see what people were selling! I have wanted to open up my shop on ETSY to sell my baby stuff. so im am antsing for a new tattoo. i know its a matter of preference or standards for some, but i find them very beautiful, unique, and inspiring. i will say that there are also many that are just awful.

so i have to say that i really LOVE this show! i think the main reason is the fashion and the photo shoots! these girls are lucky to be part of something like this. well this season i fell in love with allison! she has the most unique face I have ever seen and love her innocent personality! sadly she didn't win, but Teyona another great girl took the competition! here are a few of their shots on you make up your mind who should have won!

so i was following Amelia Lyons blog yesterday when i came upon an amazing photo shoot of Lyndzee and Roger. beautiful pictures. but what got my attention was that Lyndzee has her own retail shop online called Lady Vintique selling her one-of-a-kind hair pieces! these are really amazing. there is a trend right now, but hers really stand out because she recycles unique things and also creates new ones. these are a few of these wonderful pieces!

mati mcdonough is 32 years old, but her art looks like a childs. she did this on purpose. her color use is so fun and energetic! I think i want these on my walls above the couch! her images bring me such happiness when i look at them!

so i went into sports-chalet the other day and looked around in the women's clothing section. I shop there every once in awhile because they carry some of the brands i like. so i looked at some pieces from quicksilver! wow! they have really stepped it up! they have created a new line that has a designer feel to it. There are only a few pieces in the line but they are fabulous! i have fallen in love with quicksilver again!

i never used to where a watch because i think my wrists are fat and my hands look like man hands. But i have been told different (maybe just to be nice). so ive decided to where one. Mr. G bought me an awesome gold nixon for christmas and i love it. I have owned four nixon watches so far. i love their unique edgy style and love to see what they come up with next! so here they are, the new colorful line of nixon watches!

so my sister danielle told me about amelia lyon a few months ago. i "try" to be a good photographer, but i end up faking it. i envy those that have all the knowledge to use their cameras to the fullest! amelia captures the most incredible images. when i look at her photos i am drawn into a story. i feel like i know the people in her photos. to have that ability is amazing and special. if you ever need to hire a photographer, i highly recommend her! these pictures here are so amazing!

my favorite color right now by far is cobalt blue. it can be used for anything, clothes, accessories, paint, furniture, dishes, hair product, or text. I know sounds weird right? how does she like cobalt and text? well i love anything with words that is uniquely placed like on a billboard or magazine cover. I guess its the graphic designer in me. so here are a few of my favorite cobalt blue items:

these quilts are so unique and creative, but what I love even more about them are the different colors used in them. not many things are made with all these bold colors. mixing them all together makes them look like a straburst package exploded! I want my life to reflect the originality of these blankets.

last time i wore a headband

seriously the last time headbands were "in" was in 1989 when they were 1 to 2 inch stretchy fabric that we could buy in any color! i know i have said "im loving" everything that i post on here, but i guess thats what this is about right? everything that i love!

so these headbands that are trendy right now i am absolutely loving!

anthropolgie has a ton of different styles, shapes, and sizes that you can buy online or at any of their stores. they are a little pricier than most though.

the bright color of this red against her black hair looks amazing. this girl makes and sells them at www.pepperlane.blogspot.com

the clip style is just as cute AND you can wear it wherever you want because its not attached to the headband. this one from urban outfitters is made with feathers.

a little different from the rest, this one looks more like a halloween costume! but still cute as ever forever 21 offers a huge selection for very cheap! Love forever!

i have to say that im sorry for not posting in awhile. i guess i felt a bit overwhelmed with three blogs, myspace, facebook AND twitter! so Im back and I promise to post more often.

so I have found a blog that i am in love with. House of Turquoise is all about the color turquoise within homes. I love her pictures and feel inspired looking at the many different ways we can all use the color in our own houses! check it out and get inspired! I especially love this diamond floor below.
